adidas Makerlab
Campus 80s

GrandArmy developed an identity, visual system, documentary film, book design, web design, and launch campaign for the Campus 80s Makerlab. Makerlab gives creators unprecedented access to adidas’ tools, process, talent, and infrastructure in an effort to collaborate and explore like never before. We asked three makers from three different backgrounds — Alex Nash, Helen Kirkum, and Shun Hirose — to reimagine, design, and finalize their own take on the Campus 80s shoe. GrandArmy collaborated with the adidas team throughout the entire development process — from the product development in Germany and Vietnam to the public launch event in Brooklyn, to the Stock X global auction.

At our Brooklyn launch event, we celebrated the history of the Campus 80s and the story of our collaboration. The space hosted hundreds of photographs and artifacts from the creative and production process – pulling back the curtain on the adidas Makerlab and inviting audiences and the press to relive the journey. We also premiered the full-length documentarty, hosted a panel discussion, and launched the public auction of the footwear in collaboration with StockX.
